I made the 150 mile (each way) drive to get the cab - cut out the dash and stored it for later.  The reminder is for sale - $100 - not much interest, everyone is asking about the Brat! Note to self - keep Brat photos out of ads!

Next it was time to start fabricating in the Blazer floor.  Most of the "humps" where in the right place.  But I needed another one over the exhaust behind the passenger seat.  I was able to cut unneeded floor Blazer sections and make a smaller hump for the exhaust - also salvaged some aluminum heat shield to use in the same spot.  In hindsight - I did not need to cut the section out behind the driver seat - dang - several hours of labor!

I counted the floor pieces by the time I got finished - but now I forget - 25-28? The go from thumb size for gaps to 1/4 of the floor!  I used Blazer floor and Blazer roof material. It was a lot of welding for my 220 vac Hobart 175 Handler but my back is weak so I could only stay bent over a few minutes at a time - that let the welder cool off!   Finally got the front floor in and then added the front HHR seat mounts (white beam).  I have tried several times - if you want comfortable driving seats - keep them some kind of factory!  I have some leather HHR seats in the parts pile - would like to find HHR SS seats - but they are usually too pricey and too far away.  So far my attempt at keeping the HHR EM brake is working!

The final step here will be to spot weld the seams underneath and then seal all the joints inside and out with factory sealant and a coat of primer.  I will do the body mounts next and then the firewall - that way I can make sure it doesn't move around.  The master cylinder booster, steering, heater and A/C are going to be a challenge!  The more I see the gray frame, the less I like it.  I already have a quart of black semi-gloss - so by the time you see the next update it will be back to black!

Love these transformations! Looks like you got some free groceries with the car haha, never seen that before. Always loved the HHRs looks, this will give it some muscle it never had.
