thinking of changing your stock seats?
heres how:

1. first get your seats out
remove 4x torx screws from each seat (the ones onto the floorpan)

2. lean the seat back and unclip the yellow and blue plugs
blue is the seatbelt pretensioner
yellow is the airbag

3. remove seat from car

4. remove the torx screw that holds on the seatbelt pretensioner and feed out the wire with the blue plug

5. remove 8x torx screws from the subframe to sliders

6. find the easy access cable and unclip it from the seatback

7. now the sliders should come off, there are 3 pieces

they fit like this

8. my replacement seats are the sparco JCW with the subframe already attached, if buying non-mini seats, bolt your new subframe to the new seat.

9. now get the slider with the easy access cable on it, locate the 4x torx bolts loosely

10. attach the easy access cable to the lever in the seatback (if it has them) you will need a circlip to hold it in place, tighten the 4x torx

11. take the middle section with the handle and locate it in the fitted slider, fit the other slider and pretension bracket, tighten the bolts, check the sliders operate when you lift the handle

12. secure the pretensioner plug

13. the old seats had airbags in them, the sparco dont, to fool the car into thinking an airbag is still fitted you need to put a 3.9ohm resistor in place of the airbag. you can have this coded out at the dealers. but this way is cheaper.

cut the plug off your old seats, i left enough wire on the plug incase i wanted to return things to normal. remove a bit of shielding from the wires and solder the resistor across them. then tape things up or use heat shrink to stop anything shorting out. WARNING: this is the airbag system, make sure you solder it, just twisting the wires is not good enough, nor is a scotchlok, you dont want any bad connections, unless you want the airbags to deploy unexpectedly that is!

14. fit the resistor and plug to the seat

your seats are now ready to put in the car
