why dont they make pickup truck subrails ? tudor stuff isnt even close !!

c2f6d437-7fe2-46cc-a179-9a6d7093b869_zpsf8657fb0.jpg

luckily i had some old pickup subrails in stock . they have to be spliced in and the tudor new subrail had to be narrowed on the outer edge . nowhere close to being right out of the box

only 2 things i had to do get this crossmember to stock specs ..a little trim and weld on a new edge

07e883d1-0537-49af-bb97-86afe06518d1_zpsab6d332d.jpg

and bracing under the bolt holes

168774ac-007d-43ca-aa69-642c41467c28_zps8e9c4b95.jpg

well getting this door all apart

ca87da5b-4e88-487d-88ac-ef41e4572a79_zps835e42de.jpg

even the ppatch panel was starting to rot out . nust have been a very old braze job / patch

a9fd3b29-135d-4ab3-b907-30bd5dcc9784_zpsde55cdf6.jpg

making a new skin . bead roller , english wheel, shrinker stretcher

b05f6cd6-9edf-4af0-aa2d-14bfe0b7c12e_zpsfac24f38.jpg

so i had the decision to make of putting the patch for the back of the cab in down low and fixing the whole back panel with all of its dents and dings or make a whole panel . the whole panel will save tons of hours in body work compared to what had to be done to the orig panel . Honestly it was only and extra 3 Feet of welding to replace the whole back .

01d38985-3eaa-489b-890a-ab8fc30b4899_zps63c9937c.jpg

panel we made up

df047100-2777-48c5-a2da-6c7356cb6517_zps7bcab70b.jpg

simply welded in no hammer and file work

welds

752d441c-23b5-4bd6-a26d-bb3d855939ca_zpse16ca42e.jpg

well thats the end product after hammer and file work

How's the progress on this? I bet it looks great and far different from the old, rusty truck parts.
