Tired of your plasti-dip wheels? Here’s an easy way to remove.
Its important to have high strength brake cleaner. I started with the generic OReilleys brand which worked ok. Moving to this brand made it go much quicker.
I also bought the drill mounted brushes from Home Depot. Get the hard bristle kind (black brushes) anything softer won’t do. You can use a regular brush too but the drill mounted kind will save you some time. Make sure to test the brush before going too far to make sure it doesn’t marr your finish. Also have plenty of rags.
start by spraying the whole wheel down to get it started. Then respray one spoke or section.
Use the drill brush to break up the dip. Go at a slower speed, not only will it save your battery but the brush won’t fling the dip all over the clean parts of your wheels.
Use a rag to wipe away the dip, spraying more cleaner as you go. Keep extra rags available as they’ll fill up with dip as you wipe.
There you go! You’ll need to rewipe for a final clean but this is a great way to get it off.
