Custom PRHT Roll Bar.. first of its kind

Compliments of Cyberbug @ www.miata.net

Going where no man has gone before..... again.

Idea's are easy but finding someone to put them together and funding the time is difficult.

VAC Motorsports has taken the challenge and the car could not be in better hands. It really took a lot of head scratching... Mazda could not have made it more difficult to put decent roll bars than stock bars.

How is this different than Bethania Garage bar... Height and double hoop design.

I was in talks with them for a long time to get double hoop version.. if they were close they would be doing it..

I also want to touch the roof line and move it forward of the glass as that is the max height. I am okay with losing some leg room to get maximum height.

This is work in progress, so before you go off what should be done hang on till its finished and frankly anything that is possible is being done.

Here are some build pictures as it progresses. These are Bolt ons.. so they will be available for others.

Its coming along, It should be complete today and go for Paint.

I like red roll bars in a grey car ... We already have a special color mixed

I'll take more pictures outside tomorrow, with the helmet.

right now my head without the helmet is even with the top edge of the seat.

Because of the bar the seat is quite forward, which is okay since I can reach the clutch and press it comfortably all the way no issue there.

But my right leg hurts a little on the underside of the knee, so I'll have to get used to that or the muscles will need to get used to that.

The other issues is elbow room, I sitting pretty low, and my elbows touch the sides of the seat, and roll bar on the left. so I have to get used to new technique for turning. I will be using more right hand as there is a little more room there. Its not bad just new and will need to get used to it.

I did remove the 20mm spacer I had on the steering wheel so its not that close to me.

I could raise the cushion on my seat that will help actually, just thought of it so I'll do that. Right now I have 1" memory foam, I'll add another 1" underneath it.
