Early Style Strut Mount Rebuild Thread

Compliments of rocconut @ www.vwvortex.com

I recently purchased a set of early style strut mounts for my MKII Scirocco.

Here is a picture of the original set.

After cleaning them up with the bead blaster and a coat or two of SEM and clear coat they came out nice.

We ordered a set of Early MKI Prothane bushings from here: http://store.blackforestindustries.c...amk1upstm.html

The white rings are NLA and mine was rather hard and goughed so I opted to order the stop ring from a 924 since they are much flexible and cheap from the Porsche dealership.

Here is the bag with the part number on it. $2.81 each

Here are some more pictures of the strut

We also replaced the mount bolts, nuts and washers.

We took the bearings apart and packed them with grease but have purchased a new set but waiting for them to arrive from overseas.

I will post part numbers and prices later
