The bumpers and the styling of the pre 67 bugs was one thing we considered buying the car. She thinks the 67 and newer bugs are ugly compared to the classic vintage style of the old ones. We actually saved the old bumper. Only the overrider took the hit so the bumper itself was perfect, it just bent the supports and the overrrides. So we ordered new supports and I just bent the overrider back in to shape. There's a dent/crease where it was bent but that's minor for now considering the $300 cost of replacing one of these ****ers. I'm sure in the future both the front and rear bumpers will be replaced as they have a tad bit of rust but some turtle wax chrome and rust remover did an amazing job bringing them and the hubcaps back to a brilliant shine. There's still a bit of small rust spots on the bumpers but they are pin pricks and minor overall. She actually lieks the look it gives because it shows the age. So for now.... the old bumpers will do. I just have them off for now so it's eaier to work around the car. They'll go on last once I have everything else taken car of.

ohh **** yes dude, that **** is great, just scrub it on with a pad or microfiber, let it haze, then wipe off for a beautiful shine. It's a liquid, looks like liquid wax. I'll take a pic of the bottle next time I see it amongst all my car crap littering the spare room lol. Sometime you have to scrub a bit to get out some of the tougher rust areas. Here's some before and after shots from the outside and inside of the hubs after only a quick coat. This was before I found out a little scrubbing could make it go farther.

We also disassemled the bumpers and hit them with it a little before the accident and it did a great job on them. The rust was a little worse on them and there's still speckles like i talked about above, but there was a huge difference. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of that process.
