This is my 2007 City Golf!

After Owning the MK3 for about a year and a bit I had learnt some new things. One thing that is very important considering we use road salt for our winters here! I learnt that MK3’s were one of the worst generations for rotting out! With that in mind I knew I did not want to risk rotting mine, considering it already has had a strut tower fixed by the previous owner. The hunt was on for a winter beater! In October of 2019 I came super close to picking up a’97 Golf Trek that was in ok shape, but would have made a great beater. Unfortunately that deal fell through and the hunt continued. Fast forward to June 2020, I was searching kijjiji at about 2 AM when I came across an ad for this Tornado Red City Golf for $1000 or best offer! I instantly messaged the seller, and told him I will come to see it the following day.The next day my Dad, buddy and I headed to Kitchener togo check out the car. It turned out the reason it was posted for cheap was because the owner lived in an apartment and had just purchased a new car, so the City Golf was holding up his only parking spot. We ended up agreeing on $850 as the car needed some work, small things like brakes, and some big things like a power steering line, and all new tires/wheels. Today the City Golf is looking a little different than the day I picked it up! I really don’t need to modify this thing, but with how easy it is to get parts for MK4’s it’s too tempting, and that has become apparent when you look at it haha! It has winters mounted on Longbeach’s, Summers on white powder coated BBS RC’s, yes summers for a winter car :)).... beetle head rests, and I still have some other parts to put on..So yeah that’s the scoop on my City Golf, I threw in a pic of the car from the day after I bought it. The pics with the BBS were taken just this week!

Nice Golf. I had a Mk3 with the 2.0l and it was pretty much indestructible.

Looking good, you got it for a steal under $1000.

Yeah I think I did pretty good! It took about $1000 to fix 90% of the mechanical costs, with the help from my dad, and our friends shop, and then a little extra for some of the modifications. Still under the average cost for a safetied, running, and driving car of that age though, so I’m happy !

It has it’s flaws here and there! Some dents, scratches, and one decent dent/mark on the passenger rear quarter... but overall it is in good shape and is a great 15 footer haha
