I’ve had this 5.0 engine block on a stand forever. Was going to swap it in an E30 but the car was too rusty and never did anything with it. After moving it with me to 4 different places over the years I got tired of it taking up space. Finally time to do something with it.

I’ve seen a lot of cool engine block tables so that’s what I’m going to make. A lot of the surfaces I wanted to have exposed as machined metal got some surface rust so I’m going to paint the whole thing. What color? You’ll see.

I don’t need too big a table and I found a 26” round glass table top on FB marketplace for $20.

I think I’ll have it sitting on its end, then you can really see the details. I picked up some casters from Home Depot for $4.

First I used a green pad to scrub away some of the surface rust.

Brought it in the basement because it’s too cold to paint in the garage. This MF is heavy!

There were some parts that hadnt rusted that I taped off. Some of the bearing journals, etc. they’ll look nice as polished metal.

sprayed it down with primer. I’ll do afew coats of this.
