AUDI SHIFT BOOT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


1. Pry off shift boot wood trim surround with a thin screw driver or putty knife buy prying in a upwards motion. Use a cloth to protect the car's finish. Do not remove the trim yet.

2. Open your ash tray as the shift boot trim surround will hit it. Carefully and slowly lift up the shift boot trim and towards the back of the car. At the same time keep an eye out for the ash tray trim. Be careful not to rip off the ash try trim while removing the shift boot trim.

3. With the shift boot trim still around the shifter, you can now unscrew your shift knob. Your shift boot trim may spin with the knob. With the knob off, you can now completely remove the shifter trim off the shifter.

4. Turn the shifter trim upside down and you will notice 4 tabs that hold the leather boot in place. Simply push each of the 4 tabs carefully to remove the leather boot from the trim.

5. With the leather boot off the trim, you will need to remove the staples with a thin screw driver that holds the leather boot to the plastic boot ring.

6. At the narrow end of the shift boot, there is a plastic retaining ring. If your retaining ring looks identical to the one in the picture, simply remove the retaining ring by pulling it off. If your retaining rings looks different, then it may be the screw off type, so try unscrewing.

7. Now replace the retaining ring on your new boot and install the new boot in the reverse order. You can either use a staple gun if you have one, or glue the new boot to the trim piece in lieu of the staples.

8. Reinstall everything in the reverse order of removal.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
