92-99 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SHIFT BOOT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Here is a picture of a typical 1995 center console (please note the shifter in this is from a 2000 Bonneville, but will make little to no difference in removal instructions). Remove the shift knob. This shift knob varies but only slightly, you will still find the pin that's visible on the front underside portion of the knob. You will have to pull it out and that will release the knob and allow you to pull it up and off.

2. The pin on a stock 95 knob is slightly recessed, but you cannot miss it.

3. The ashtray. What you are going to do here is open your ashtray, and pull the tray out. This will reveal 2 phillips-head screws. Unscrew these and put them to the side.

4. Once you've removed the screws, carefully lift the entire black part of the console UP from the front. It will pivot on the back axis. You may need to put your car in neutral. Do so by turning the car to "on" but do not start. Hold your foot on the brake and keep in neutral until the black part of the console is up.

5. The following picture is going to show the underside of the console where the shift boot is actually mounted. You are going to just have to look at this and carefully pry it off, as it is glued on. Use your favorite plastic on plastic glue to put on the new shift boot. I'd heavily recommend making sure it's compatible with ALL plastics (Including ABS)

Reinstall in the reversed order of removal.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
