Well, after trying to mate up the used APS inlet that I have to my current manifold there is just no way it will work, the mounts that the pipes attatch to are just in totally the wrong place.

I think Il make something up like a custom inlet seeing as nobody makes a full 3" hard inlet specific for the 09 WRX design....

Perrin makes this but its only 3" to 2.4" tapered.............

then the APS style inlets fittings are in totally the wrong place and cannot be altered to fit.... custom it is!

Well good news! finally got all my gaskets so the assembly can begin over the weekend, il take some pictures for you guys but I'm hoping to have the entire engine finished, turbo mounted and fuel pump installed by Sunday.

Then just got to wait on my oil pick up to arrive, was on back order so it's coming direct from the manufacturer. Still lots to keep me busy though!

Well 370whp would be my ultimate goal but I must be mindful of the transmission, I am thinking 350whp to start and i know these mods are capable of the 390whp range.

yeah I had a look, they say it will fit but i dont see how? Its the same design as the aps inlet I sold but the way the inlets are arranged conflicts with the plastic inlet manifold style of the 09 WRX.

Did make some good progress today though, got one of the heads all torqued up, cams installed etc. Do the other side tomorrow, turbo, headers and intake manifold tomorrow hopefully.

thanks, I will be getting it dyno tuned probably by AMS in chicago, although I will need a good start up map for sure.

Yeah thats why I like the 09 WRX, got some of the nicer touches but not the widebody, I still only think the STI should have the widebody IMHO but maybe I am bias lol.

Made lots of progress on the weekend, Got the heads mated up and cams installed, I am a little concerned though, the cams are installed and torqued up to exact spec but they do not spin freeley. They seem quite stiff and I am wondering if they should move easily and if I should back off the torque a bit? Now the cams are lubed well on the correct bearing areas etc. Hmmm what to do, I dont want to risk jumping teeth on start up!!!

Also got the water pipes, secondary air system and headers wrapped and installed. Turbo is now mated up but wow its a tight fit, I think I will get my inlet made up, install it and then torque up the turbo, it will be impossible to get everything on afterwards!!!

funny you should say that!!!!!!

Checked it all over tonight and had 2 of the caps the wrong way round, everything rotates fine now.

Running into some issues with the Dom 3 being too big with the 3" compressor housing. Decided that as I am making my own inlet il move the turbo back by about half an inch. This means il be custom making brackets to hold the turbo as the fatory ones will be too short.

Oh well I like custom touches, makes it my own!
