DIY - take off the bumper

For E60 owners, here is a guide to removing your front bumper. Useful if you just can't get your headlamps out or if you want to upgrade your stock halogen foggies to Xenon HID bulbs. E60.net had some issues loading my imageshack pictures. If they still don't load on bimmerfest, I'll reply with another post of just the images.

I put mine on ramps to make using the jack easier

Jack up the car the rest of the way

Safety first

Unscrew the wheel well trim pieces and undercarriage - see this thread for that

Once jacked up you can safely crawl under the car. Here's a few pictures.

I'm not quite sure why the circled part of the exhaust pipes is squeezed flat instead of staying round

I didn't get a picture of it. But there is a black trim piece on top of the bumper that must be removed (with a flathead screwdriver) to reveal the last 5 bumper bolts. The spot where they were is circled.

Here's a shot of why once all the screws are out, you have to push the bumper back (towards the cabin) before pulling it out. You have to push back then pull out from the side.

And the grand finally - no more bumper

Obviously reverse the process to get it back on.
Now on to writing up the DIY for changing your xenon bulbs.

I put up a DIY to take off the front bumper of the E60 and your only comment is a critique on spelling sematics? Hey I finally found a use for this icon ->:asshole:

When I made the post, bimmerfest was having trouble with image attachments so I used imageshack, which for some meant the images didn't load. I had always planned to post again after the file attachments had been fixed.
