Welcome to another Tech Tip Tuesday. For those going a little more serious on their build that are planning to use a motor and/or mid plate you want to consider adding an engine travel limiter to your setup.

The purpose of an engine travel limiter when using with motor and mid plate is to keep the engine from moving front to back in the chassis as the car accelerates or stops. Engine and midplates are the only choice in high horsepower applications to transfer torque to the chassis as it is the strongest and effects the cylinder walls of an engine the least.

Because motor and mid plates like the one on the LS1 engine in this video are made of sheet metal / plate, they are prone to banjo-ing which can prove dangerous in a number of ways. This can create an unstable platform, but also cause issues with the driveshaft in the rear of the transmission, headers, turbo piping, plumbing and more.

Using an engine travel limiter secured to a frame rail, k member, crossmember or other structural component will avoid any banjoing, unstability, or rocking of the engine.

This video shows the features and ease of installation of our swiveling engine travel limiter. We have options for SBC, BBC, LS1 Gen 3 or Gen 4, and Gen V LT currently. Below are links to those options.
