So a few weeks back I put up a pic of an original interior I sourced. Well I have to admit they're so comfy I had them cleaned (by my dad) and they're now in the car. Im still not sure on the look. But they are what the car came with! The originality police will be slightly less pissed off with my car now haha.

Where the drivers seat was ripped I haven't cleaned, but I have had it stiched up. So hopefully i can now get that section as clean as the rest! The passenger seat came up amazingly! As did the rear bench. I couldn't belive what was hiding under the filth!

Just need a set of original door cards now!

That is a strange one! I've never seen that before!

So it was with regret a few weeks ago that I've retired the GT from active service.

Over the christmas break I was going through what routine maintenance was required.

I went hunting as it had been especially skittish in the cold weather. To which my dad pointed out my rear tires where completely bold! (The fronts still have approx 5-6mm) So something is drastically wrong with my rear alignment. In all honesty that was the final straw as I really didn't want to have to fix the rear suspension and re-tyre it.

I'm too selfish to sell it, so I'm going to sit on it until I get the time to pull it apart and completely re-do it! I'm thinking Astral Blue with a silver roof. (It's currently the 3rd mini in line for this service so I wouldn't expect anything soon I'm afraid!)

But something to look forward too!

I'm now driving round in something newish and german, it's quite the shock to the system!

I did at least treat her to a good wash before I left!

I did have a nosy at that one. I do like it but there's certainly some bits I'd change though. Mine will be nicer ;)

So today I finally got around to having a play with my wheels at work! I've no idea what I'm going to do with the data, but I'll certainly have a nice cad model.

For those Bemused it's a 3d laser Scanner.

Split rim centres anyone?

Sadly Not much to report of late!

Mini has been hating hibination, it wants to be driven.  The temptation to re-tax it is massive, and it's still MOT'd till September! Does need new rear tyres though.

I have been having some fun with some tech though!

Hi,

IMG-20140502-WA0001_zpsplb5pf73.jpg

That's with unprofiled Firestone tyres that are god knows how old. And a 5mm spacer. that clears everything including the shock absorber. That's pretty much level with the body work. If i was to fit them properly id do 165 tyres and spacer them out a little. Doing that I reckon they'd look brilliant.

I'll see if I can find anymore pics.

Holy thread revival Batman!

Well the temptation finally became too much.

With 6 weeks remaining on it's MOT and my new car needing a major service, I decided to give the old girl one last run.

Spent Sunday prepping, bleeding brakes and just getting used to her again. All seemed good.

Then set off back to where I'm currently living.

Even took some pictures.

Got 95% of the way home and stopped for petrol. Walking back to the car i noticed an oil drip, I pulled straight off the forecourt and popped the bonnet.

That's when i twigged something had gone wrong...

I was confronted with an oily mess. It was everywhere!

All I could do was try to stem the flow and top it up so it didn't run dry and limp the last bit of the journey very slowly.

To say I'm disappointed would have been an understatement I was hoping for a lovely week back in my mini, not have it grenade itself on the first outing!

I'd managed to track down the leak to the oil filter head when i got back, rolling around on the floor in the dark, and did my best to reseal it with sealant.

I'd managed to stem the flow considerably, and decided it was safe to limp it to work this morning where I knew I could fix it. But fearing it was going to be something else that I couldn't fix.

Took and extended lunchbreak and popped one of these on. It seemed to be leaking from that entire area.

When removing the old one I could see it had blown the gasket out underneath the filter head. So was effectively pumping out oil.

Its a couple of hours later and it's not dropped anything yet, but I'm now very tentative in having to use it for the next week! Must have been a protest to not being used!
