hello again all, three weeks and no updates, i'm going to miss this thread now that cliff is done :( any ways, i passed my theory test first time the other week and i've been having some lessons now for a few weeks so that's all good :mrcool:

i went to mini fest uttoxeter last week end and brought a few bits:

a switch for my spots in the same style as the rest of the switches in the cab

a black handbrake gaiter as there wasn't one on cliff when i got him

Posted Image

a red mini thirty tax disk holder (had to be done ;D)

Posted Image

a set of red mini thirty wheel centres, they really do finish the car of well :proud:

ooh and i found some bunting in my cupboard that i got years ago, i wanted to put it in the back window but i wouldn't be able to see out of it

i went to stanford hall today and was very tempted to buy a complete metro turbo set up for £300 but that can wait for cliff v2.0 next year :shifty: i've decided against dropping a 1275cc in and want to turbo my 1L (maybe stroke it to 1130) for more smiles per gallon and it'll still be cheaper to insure =] but i'm getting ahead of my self...after searching around a bit more for insurance, it looks like cliff won't be going on the road until i'm 18 as i don't really need a car for my last year of sixth form and i won't have passed my test till around christmas time or maybe later due to exams in january :mmkay: so i have another 9 ish months to save up and my insure will drop when i turn 18 and i may have been driving around for a few months prior :proud:

i just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me over this rebuild and left comments on my work so i didn't feel like i was talking to myself

watch this space...who knows what will happen to cliff once i finish sixth form and start an apprenticeship. cough*turbo*cough ;D

cheers fellas

Wow haven't been on here in ages :L thanks for the comments people :)

Since I last posted anything up here, not much has happened really: he still has no mot or tax; I haven't passed my test yet and cliff has been sat in the garage for like 5 weeks and these pics are the most I've looked at the mini :'(

I've been having lessons off my dad and I'm nearly ready for my test but sixth form keeps getting in the way :L plan of action is to take my test after my January exams ready for the show season :D if for some reason I don't pass by then, I'll still take him to shows with my L plates on lol

On the plus side I've been working and saving and I can now afford to insure Cliff when I pass :D

Right then, I haven't been on here in a while so sorry for the late reply guys :L

First off I'd like to say thanks for all the nice feed back :)

MiniLover1: thanks muchly mate :D

MiniCooper: I'm not sure what the first rust reverted we used was - it was a special mix lent to us by a friend who restores VW Busses so sorry about that :L we did use hammerite rust reverter when that stuff ran out if this helps and it worked good too. We painted straight over both reverters once they'd been left to do there stuff.

Tom2012: thank you buddy :)

Graham: it's nasty stuff isn't it :L but at least it's gonna do it's job for a long time :) our smoothing technique was to us a piece of torn up card that is laminated on one side - we used the box that the latex gloves we used came In, worked a treat. But it's best to put it on so that it doesn't need smoothing as we did for the scuttle gaps :P it's a bit nerve wracking but you just have to go for it in one go.

LeeBash: thanks mate, I am :D lol I'm sorry to say that I don't know either :( I keep meaning to fill out a V888 form that'll tell me the whole history of the car - hopefully. All I know is that it was never registered on uk roads until 1998, it was brought by the military from new at the factory and I can only guess that it was most likely used as a transport for higher officers on a base, maybe over seas. Who knows, it could have been a spy car ;) lol if only :P
