The challenge was to get the gearbox at the back of the car to work with a gear stick at the front... Sorted

I have mated the original Triumph steering column to a VW Passat loom, the instrument panel is all VW, and I have tried to hide it behind the dash like an original Spitfire.. The starter motor the engine came with had seized solid, so after all that work it was satisfying to turn the key and something happen.. Next need to get it to start.

So the 20v Audi 1.8 turbo has had its ECU hacked the immobiliser turned off. This is the first time i have started the engine, no exhaust, no MAF, turbo not plumbed in, cooling not complete.. But still a major milestone.

The mid-engined Spitfire now has an exhaust, started off as an Audi rs4 exhaust. The tailpipe is just tacked in place as I ran out of mig wire. Also no maf or o2 sensor yet, so it’s running rough.

My mid-engined spitfire’s dashboard isn’t happy it can’t find any of its other component (abs, airbags etc) Need to find a way to disable all these warnings!

It's good to see someone modifying a triumph - the time put into sorting the panel gaps has paid off!

What a transformation! If Triumph were making cars today I could see them building something like this.

You really are an artist with the welder. Looks like a modern version of a classic design. Well done!
