I installed the 140 main jets yesterday to replace the 130's. The car now runs much better. It runs much stronger with the popping through the carbs and misfire eliminated. The one issue I have now is it pops a little at idle through the exhaust, mostly on the right side. I checked the ignition timing and it is set at about 3 BTDC. I will advance this to 6 BTDC (what the spec calls for) and lean out the idle a little to see if that takes care of it. Nevertheless, I am really impressed with the change in performance.

One other thing that happened last week is I found a set of 16 inch reproduction wheels with tires on e bay, 7 inch fronts and 8 inch rears. I got the set for 1000$. They are brand new as they were used only for a few months and have less then 400 miles on them with Continental Z rated tires (the same I have on the TR).

Better yet is that they were 40 miles from my house. Must be destiny. I just put them on Saturday and in my opinion, they visually transform the car.

In addition the painter repaired the two areas I was not happy with for free, and now the paint looks great

Overall I am very happy with how the car is turning out

Actually, it is a rather odd tale (one my wife still does not believe

In the Spring of 2014 we were searching for a 911 SC to replace her 88 Mondial cabriolet. The steering was too heavy for her, and she was not comfortable with the gated shifter. After 3 years we had driven it 470 miles (mostly by me)

We found the 911 we wanted at RPM VT in Vermont. It is a Euro spec car that was imported into Florida by a private owner in 1989. In course of conversations with them I learned they also had two 308 GT4's in various states of disassembly. So, we made a package deal and bought one of the the 308's they had as well. They ended buying our Mondial a good price for us, so everyone was happy.

That is how I ended up with the 308 GT4, chasing after a 911. My wife still tells me the 911 was just an excuse to get the 308, with half a smile.

We (she) have not driven the car much yet, but we both want to get engaged with the local Porsche people. That is half the enjoyment to owning these cars, interacting with people who have common interests in cars.

We are located in the Northern Detroit metro area.

Where are you.
