Well I got the complete rotating assembly done today. The ARP tapered ring compressor gets a HUGE thumbs up from me. It made the process alot smoother i'd recommend these tapered type ring compressors to anybody who does engine builds with any frequency at all. I'll get the oil pump and rear cover/seal on tomorrow, a few little random things here and there and i'll be ready for my MHS stage III's. I'm gonna do my fuel pump this coming week and go ahead and order the last few things I need so by this time next week I should be all ready.

Ya I did it in my apt.

Son of aaaaa B#@*! I just noticed that while scrolling down to read what you wrote. Well livein's learnin, you know, I was concentrating on if the rods needed to be faced a certain way and didn't even think about which side the reliefs needed to be on. We'll call this PRE-final assembly, assembly. Well I guess double checking before posting pics and looking like an idiot would've been nice to. Thanks Man Of course it couldn't be one or two the wrong way it has to be one or two the right way.

Probably need different rod bolts now huh?

Well, how much I have into it is probably not a good factor to use, this block was well within specs for bore diameter/taper ect. and I could've eaisly used the stock pistons/rods again as it turned out to have fairly low mileage (under 100K i'd say) and all were in excellent condition, save the small amount of time it sat with cam covers and intake off in the yard which led to some minor rusting. I chose to use all new parts and had quite a bit of machine work done. I paid like $200 for the short block and had to pull it of course. So for that cost plus rings bearings and some cleanup at the machine shop this build can be done for a minimal amount of money. The idea came from Nick at Modular Head Shop and he has some info on it in his website. I suggest you check it out if this looks like somthing you want to do. As far as the pistons, this is the first time i've used them but they were all verry close in weights and look like they'll work fine for NA.

O man, Ya it wont be a problem really at all, I figure if this is the worst mistake I make then i'll be doing alright. Just kinda sucks when you spend the better part of two days measuring, checkin ,measuring again, looking it up ect. ect. to make sure everything is just right and then you realize you didn't see somthing so obvious. At least we noticed it in time. Thanks
