Hello everyone,

We just spent little time replacing the struts on the hood and trunk on our 2001 BMW 740IL. The process is fairly straightforward and only requires basic tools. Below is the video of the provided DIY, enjoy!

Start by propping up the trunk or hood. Then remove the C-clips on the top of the strut, and the retaining clip on the bottom.

Use a small screwdriver or pick to remove clips. One trunk strut sits inside a plastic sleeve, which simply slides out once disconnected.

In the front, both struts sit in plastic sleeves with ball and socket joints. Reinstall the new struts in the same orientation as the ones removed.

Once done, enjoy!
