The Jetta is back together, and running great! I've put maybe 100 miles on it or so and can't find anything leaking, which makes me feel good about the oil pan and all the coolant hoses I replaced. I do have a slow power steering leak from somewhere, but that will be easier to diagnose now that I'm not leaving coolant and oil on the ground. It's slow enough that I don't see anything dripping on the ground, but my power steering fluid was low.

As for the Forge pan - I'm still in a holding pattern with returning that. Not a happy customer that's for sure.

I'm happy the car is back together though, and I've been trying to drive it as much as possible because I really do enjoy it. I know this was more maintaince than a build over the winter, but it's my first time doing more than just a weekend repair/replace of parts. Now if only I could get a line on a rust free color-matched driver side fender...

Been following your posts, can't believe that pan was off so much, same with the inlet pipe!

It's crazy! Forge even responded and said they've sold the pan for years without issue and that they were 'looking into it'. I can't find anyone on the internet that says they've installed it, or had a problem with it, so I'm wondering if something is off with a batch of them or something? Hoping the inlet pipe is as good as people say it is, otherwise it wasn't worth the trouble.

Love a fast wagon. I’ve driven a modded 1.8t so I’m sure that thing scoots! Sounds like a great daily.

Thank you! It has been a great daily. Really fun to drive, and extremely reliable despite the reputation of mk4s. I'm not really sure what my plan is for it going forward now that it's not a daily, but it'll be fun either way!
