So I got my hands on some peg board stuff the other day and decided to finally get off my rear and finish redoing the floor in my hatch.
- actually, thats not true. what I MEANT to do was to replace the rear deck lid, but somehow I ended up doing the floor instead. anyway. here is how it worked out. -
I used two peices of melamine peg board stuff and some speaker box carpet I got from a local stereo shop.
the reason I used two peices was because the single peice would be harder to lift up and out if I needed to remove it.
The two peices are attached together by the fabric, sort of like a hinge. it works out pretty good.
I made about 100 measurements, some eyeballing and a lot of fiine tuning. took me a couple hours. but YOU can just follow my images and use them for your measurements thanks to the fact that the peg board has a hole drilled every square inch. so count the holes and you got your measurements. here come the pictures!

heres the top view of the peices in the hatch. you can see the holes and use them for your measurements. notice the top peices holes do not line up with the bottom peice. Pay attention to that when you are cutting.

my duck says "quack!" ("it fits")

now add a couple coats of heavy duty spray adhesive and lay the tacky boards on the fabric.

wrap the overlaps over, but dont wrap the extra over on the edge up against the seats. this extra few inches of fabric should be tucked under the rear seats. (thats OEM)

aaaannd installed:

and heres how it is when I lift up on it. it hinges at the other board and gives me access to the spare tire.

unfortunately, it looks really ugly from this view, so I prefer to keep it closed.

any questions?
