When you visit Detroit you are surrounded by car enthusiasts and car culture, but where do the locals go to get their fix? There are plenty of hot spots to visit if you want to get your taste of the Motor City.
Woodward Avenue
-Starting from downtown Detroit riding all the way up to Pontiac, this 4 lane wide road is the main artery of the Motor City. Wether you are driving up it or parked on the side you are bound to see vehicles of all types along with plenty of prototypes and manufacturer test vehicles!
Autorama
-Usually around the time of the NAIAS, this custom car show showcases some of the best custom built creations. The top floor consists of all the best in shows and cleanest custom vehicles, but some gems lie beneath! The lower floor is mainly all rat rods, custom chops, and rough and tough vehicles which are just as entertaining.
M1 Concourse
-Located off Woodward up in Pontiac, this race track offers a handful of car shows each season. Expect large crowds, long lines and to see a little bit of everything. They also have track days if you have the need for speed while in the Motor City.
Concours d'Elegance
-This premier car show has all the rare, odd, exotic, and newest vehicles and is sure to please. Located at St. Johns, expect to take all afternoon viewing all these premier vehicles and it fun seeing them run and drive for best in show. If you want something a little more down to earth the Concours d'Lemons occurs at the same time showcasing all the wild and wacky vehicles and just couldn't make it into the Elegance.
Woodward Dream Cruise
-Located on Woodward Ave, this cruise mainly runs from Ferndale up through Pontiac. Main stages are in Ferndale, Royal Oak and Birmingham with more of a wild time occurring up in Pontiac. Expect crusing to begin about a week before hand with heavy crusing starting by the middle of the week. Thursday night it will be busy, with Friday and Saturday becoming a parking lot. Great event to cruse or just park and watch them ride by.
High Octane Detroit
Located in Birmingham and hosted by Darakjian jewelers, this car show hosts mainly high end exotics and expensive vehicles. Located right on the main street expect limited parking and some of the latest and greatest to arrive.
Performance Part Show.
Located in Novi, this is the show for horsepower freaks. Expect plenty of dragsters, performance parts, and wild rides
