Vauxhall combo

Hello all, I am not a car buff at all but I am currently wiring in a new stereo, I've taken out the tape player and got the new connectors (though I am missing one set of leads). The part I'm having trouble with is connecting the red 12v wire to the cigarette lighter. I have two cables that I think I need to connect through the lighter a red one that says 12v ignition switched and an orange one that says illumination dash light. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I've got plastic cable connects but that's been my only idea so far...
