AMC at this point was a full line company, and this was the most deluxe model that it offered. Could it reasonably be expected to compete with Impala and Fairlane? They tried, for sure. Eventually this big model would be dropped so that AMC could focus on smaller cars. Certainly the interior was as deluxe as any in the field.
