Decided to make a video to clear some misconceptions about driving with the windows down vs. having them up and using the air conditioning (a/c). A decent percentage of people think that driving around with the windows down instead of using a/c actually gives you better fuel economy. While that is true for cruising around town, once you get up past ~50 MPH the inverse is true. It's better to have the a/c because of the amount of drag that having the windows down creates at higher speeds.


Plus I talk about getting hit in the hand with pebbles/bugs while driving with my hand out the window.

Quick update:

Just picked up a cobb intake with box. Guna pick up an afe dry filter to replace the oiled filter, not the same exact size it's a little wider than and shorter than the cobb but fits in the box. Gotta do some insulation to the box since it's far from air tight but some new edge trim seals, lava mat, and dei floor and tunnel wrap to the snorkel, box and velocity stack should achieve at least stock airbox temps.

Looking to pick up a set of EL headers (no killer b, I can finish this round of mods for less than a set of those). Probably picking up ceramic coated AP headers and coated AP uppipe.

If I can find a used nameless 5" catback I'll grab that, but if I come across a slightly used 20g xtr or Dom 1.5 xtr I might go that route vs a catback. The power vs $$ wouldn't make sense.

Then a retune on 93 at efi logics before new years, maybe it'll crack 340 wtq this time around. I'm guna tell mikey to put back a couple degrees of timing to keep it extra conservative.

Also, looking into the possibility of lifting it a little. I'm sick of scraping and don't want to crack my bumper again on the crappy northeast roads.

Function over form. We'll see how this all goes.

Another update, installed the following:

cobb intake and air box, insulated it with edge trim seals, lava mat, dei floor and tunnel wrap to the snorkel, box and velocity stack should achieve at least stock airbox temps. also got the custom AFe dry filter (intake and box used, filter new)

ceramic coated AP EL headers (flex joint, from what i read cuts down on cracking) and ceramic coated AP uppipe (both used)

Invidia Q300 titanium tip catback (used)

AEM IAT sensor, drilled and tapped into throttle body side of process west. Wired up instead of stock IAT sensor

4 bar map sensor (i believe it's Omni can't remember)

EFI Logics 93 Octane Tune (91 octane map as well in case i can't find 93 ever)


Results:

aside from getting a bad AEM sensor out of the box, absolutely no issue. IATs are ambient +1-2 degrees when moving, have to be stopped/in traffic for a long time to have an substantial increase and decreases rather quickly once moving again. no issues with the AFe dry filter in terms of MAF scaling.

The sound with the EL header, catted DP, and Q300 is almost perfect. Just loud enough so you can hear it, but not obnoxious. Maybe i'll throw up a video if I have time.

Final #'s were 311wtq 349whp on a mustang dyno, i'll put up the graph when i get a chance
