and then i went for a drive. i went about 87 miles doing between 45-65 on a highway. after the fill up again, my math says that i got almost 27 mpg driving miss daisy around. not too shady. paint is coming soon....one 1970 el camino to be restored to driving condition first.

so. i was looking over the belt earlier today and noticed that i lost a rib. well that prompted me to swap the new one in. so i removed the belt with 27,000 miles and noticed that it got stretched quite a bit. so i proceeded to install the new belt only to find that i could not get it on with the idler pulley installed. i guess after a few miles and readjust the tension a couple of times, that the idler will once again fit. that bites anus i say. the only thing that i can think of, although i do not really think it would make a difference, is if i was supposed to use a 2.25 inch pulley, that would have made it better, or there is a slightly bigger belt for stage three with an idler. i will call vf tomorrow and find out. on another front, the silver center caps have 6 or so thin coats of flat black on them and will finally be installed tomorrow.

after a call to vf, i spoke with nick and found out that there is indeed two sizes in belts. there is about 30 mm difference in them. i would bet that i got the 1395mm one and i need the longer one.

and then...i am still waiting on the replacement belt. i told sean to take his time over two weeks ago, and he took it literally to the extreme....so i am waiting on vf once again....i wonder if they just do not have any more belts, like the way they had no more 2.25" pulleys. tick- tock.

ps, more photo's soon of wheels with center caps, i like them. now for paint and interior....
