Im taking it tomorrow to a reputable tuner who is going to charge me around 400 for the tune. Its a 3 hour drive but I rather have peace of mind. Also, I am tuning it without the KDI heat exchanger as that hasn't arrived yet but ambient temperatures have been in the 50s/60s with dense air at most so I shouldnt suffer too much.

I drove 3.5 hours to get it tuned and ended up catching the train home because the car went bad. Started making horrible sounds after we put it under boost. We took the blower belt off and it wasnt that. Seems like a lifter gave way. One of the rockers had play and a pushrod was sitting lower than the others. The pushrod itself was fine its just about 2-3mm lower than the rest causing the rocker to smack against the spring and the rod. So once i get it towed up here i have to tear it apart and see what went wrong. It was running fine except for making the noise. It boosted right up to 200kpa and pulled HARD. But after that, i didnt boost again as the noise started getting louder even off the boost. Parked it and counted my losses.

Engine is gone....A lifter roller broke off and fel into the into the rotating assembly...its toast. Theres plenty of metal shavings in there. Cam also showed scars in lobe 1 and 3. Damon, message me when u can please. Thanks!

I did the install along with some other folks who helped me. Everything was torqued to specs. How could a lifter fail? Just because? That's what ended up happening. It fell in there and wreaked havoc.

Yea dude. Yesterday was not a good day. This happens after having the car parked for close to two months waiting on the parts.

Whatever you do....be very carefull NOT TO DROP ANYTHNG INTO THE OIL PAN!!!. One of my friends dropped a screw in while removing the cam retainer plate. We spent countless hours dropping the trans, exhaust, and driveshaft just to get the pan completely out. All for a stupid screw. But the good news is that she is all tuned up and runs like a raped ape! I got a code yesterday after (misfire). I removed it and it hasnt returned. We checkd the a log and there was no knock so were good on that...The plugs may be gapped a litlle too much at .040 or there may need to be more fuel for cold a startup as I had issues getting the car to start this morning. Any suggestions why It would give me trouble to start? Car starts on a dime when warm.

On another note....apparently the KDI heat exchager works great!!! The car stayed cool and had a very fast recovery rate. I ended up riveting it to the bumber ( which is tough as hell!). Track sweeper cam has a nice lope to it. Its just right and the car pulls hard thru all the gears.

I took it to the track over the weekend and managed a 12.4@117. DISMAL. I left in complete disappointment. I knew something HAD to be wrong for me to be running these times when I previously ran a 12.3 @117 with my lower pulley and tune (still pretty shitty) from the same tuner. Now I sent my tune file over to Keith to have a look out of concern and sure enough, the charts are way off from timing to fueling.

Right now I am going to do what I SHOULD have done from the get go and have KDI remotely tune me. I'm pretty upset knowing that a brand new under 1K mile engine was at risk of blowing due to someone's poor tune. I'll be doing logs and sending them back to Damon and go from there. I don't know what to look for in the map so I couldn't tell you exactly whats going, Keith has my current tune file.
