weather hasn't been to sporty...

I wound up dropping off my fuel tank to repair the damaged vent tubes and to check the tank for leaks at a local shop close by. I only had two vents that needed repair but they wound up repairing all 3, and a leak check for $40.00.

I found these additional heat shields to slip over the fuel feed and the drivers side vent tube hose in addition to the heat shields I already installed. Better safe than sorry

I also installed marine grade fuel hose and stainless clamps on fuel and vent connections. The fuel tank sender was installed in the tank and then installed in the car. All fuel and vent lines were rerouted, secured and connected. It's not my idea of good progress but it is one more bug ironed out. heres a few pics of the final install.

I was able to install both front brake hoses as well, now the brakes are ready for some fluid and a good bleed out. I tried to pull the UCA stops up through the slots and wound up ripping one of them, I did use a little grease to aid with the install. Might need to do a little trimming to get these in place.
Now that under the car is finished with the exception of tightening down all of the suspension once the car is down on its wheels. I will begin the wiring and dash install next. Thanks for checking out my work. Rob

Which color on the wheels?

I got a little side tracked this weekend. I wanted to see how the 5 spokes would look in satin black. I removed the tires off of 2 rims and began to strip off the paint. There was four different colors on these wheels:screwup: So needless to say the stripping consumed a good part of the day. Once clean they were prepped and painted satin black.

I let them dry overnight and today mounted the tires and balanced both wheels.

Here are a few pics of the grey rims and then the satin black rims. Its hard to tell but the black rims are hidden in the shadows of the pic. I will need to get better pics once the car is back down on the ground.

getting closer...

As all of my hardware baggies start to empty, this can only mean one thing.
That first ride is nearing  Hear is a pic of the dash installed, Im not real happy with it. The PO had the dash recovered by a shop, Being the holidays are around the corner this dash will work for now until the car fund builds back up. Im also looking to replace all three A/c vents in this pic if anyone has them for sale.

Next up was the dome lamp and the seat belt holders.

And I thought I was done taking parts off the car LOL.... I had to remove the lower valance, the front bumper and brackets. Im still fighting this repop core support... the front bumper when first put on the car was shifted to far to the pass side and too close on the drivers side. It also stuck out away from the front of the car on the pass side. So once agian the welder came out. after some cutting, welding and grinding, the bumper will fit the way it should. The brackets were glass beaded and repainted, I also removed the hood latch, hood latch release, and the radiator hold down panel to strip and repaint these as well. They were a little scratched up during the assembly of the car.

I was able to strip, paint, and remount the tires on my other two wheels.

Under the hood the wrirng for the a/c, alt, front lights & horns is complete. I still have the starter yet to wire and neaten up the main harness a little bit.
The horns were also put in while I was in that area.

I removed both front inner fenders to undercoat the bottom side. I figured it was much easier to do off the car. Much less masking to protect from overspray.

And last this is a shot of my so called make shift work bench by the end of the weekend. It sure was a mess and took awhile to clean.

Thanks for stoppin bye..... Rob

Great cars so cool back then. I believe about $3,600 at the time?
