The mounting system for the bunks was carriage bolts that became inaccessible after carpeting the bunks. I decided that recessing the heads of some button-head allen bolts above the carpeting would give me flexibility in fine tuning the supports.
I started out by using a 3" diameter wood bit, carving a hole 1/2" deep, slightly deeper than the combined height of the bolt, washer and carpet.
Test fit all the boards. Drilled drainage holes in board's recessed area.
Wrapped the vertical guides in carpet.
I haven't the faintest idea what this bolt is for. It's a carriage bolt who's square shank fits into a vertical slot that covers the length of the rounded part of the support. Sliding the bolt along the length of the slot allows you to change the angle of the bolt. What goes here? Bumper? Reflector?
Finished installing the new marine carpet on all of the bunks.
Installed LED tail lights. They are highly visable.
Beveled the edges of the wheel well cover to make the the arch look better after carpeting.
Dragged it outside to see how it looked in sunshine. Still have to rebuild and install the winch. Still waiting for a new trailer jack and side lights to come in.
