and then, it lives again. i am conserned though that after the motor get to operating temps, the oil pressure only shows 1 bar at idle. my other corrado with 110k miles shows 2 bars at idle. they both stay at about 4.5 to 5 bars at 3k in fifth gear cruising. i put in some 20w-50 hoping that would do better than the syntech 5w-30, but it only rose up about a quart to a half bar at idle, and dropped a half to full bar at 3k. anybody have any thoughts on this?.,,,,,

so after driving it for a while now, the oil preesure is still not as good as the older car. i am going to build it again sooner than later to find what is out of spec. i may even try another oil pump as well first.

hello all. just installed the innovate lc-1 wideband air/fuel controller that hooks up to the speedhut gauge. works very nice. pics soon. oil pressure still lower than i like, so if anybody has a good short or tall block for cheap, give me a call or email me. thanks angelo

hello, i swapped the unit from my other corrado. the oil pressure is 2 bars in the car with no problem. then i swapped the sending units, and now both cars show about 1 bar with the temps at 200 degree's. i thought that was kind of weird. but keep in mind that the pressure does not drop to zero bars now like it did before i swapped the sending units. from what i saw in a conversion chart, 1 bar equals a little over 7 psi. so to be about 3.5 bars at idle with hot oil at 200 degree's, nethier car does that. when the car oil is cold, the corrado that does not have an issue has over 10 bars when i floor it and it spins at 4-6k. the motor in question will not go past 6 bars cold. i even wonder if i may have somehow left out a restriction part under the crank that shoots oil to the piston wrist pins. i believe they are all there. when i find another short or long block for sure, i will refesh my memory on the way that the motor goes toghether for sure. it sat apart for almost a year before i put it back togother. all in all, it does drive good, just not as great as the first vr6 rebuild that my brother and i did on the original corrado motor. this motor came from a 96 passat. the previos owner did not use synthetic oil, and there was some gunk when we took it apart. so there is a chance that there is some wear somewhere in the motor. anyway, no way to know until it comes apart again. so, that is why i hope to find a cheap but good vr6 block.
