hello, i have the bently book, also have reputable motor guys helping. my brother is the head man at the local vw dealership with over 15 years of love for the vw's. now the machine shop did not check any of the tolerances in the motor. i would have thought that would be a given after the amount of work i had them do. that is a lesson learned, make sure to request that you get the specs checked. the machinist is also from the dealership. anyway, the tensioner was my bad in the prior motor build, but the new style tensioner has made it impossible to make that mistake again. of course the different oils will give different results, so that is why i have been using 20w-50 in this motor. i am just shooting in the dark as why there is no oil pressure past six bars when the motor is cold. and you are very correct on the 14.5psi to one bar, i do not know why my mind drifted like that. anyway, i will find another short block to take appart and then i will know for sure if the current motor is missing anything in it. i am just thinking that maybe one of the restiction plugs under the crank bearings may have fallen out when the motor went to the machine shop, i checked them and would tell you that is not the case, i am just dumb founded on what the malfuction is. although i am 99% sure all parts are there and accounted for. the motor now has over 2000 miles on it with no ill results. if anybody has a tallblock that they want to sell cheap and you live near south carolina, please let me know. thanks for all the replies guy's....angelo

good news, good news. the oil pressure problem that i thought that i had turns out to be just a crappy gauge that does not show correctly. i swaped the gauges the other day with the other corrado, and now the gauge reads 1.5 bars at 240 degrees oil temp instead of 0 bars. i am very tempted to get a mechanical gauge or even buy new speedhut electric gauge to match the air/fuel and boost/vac gauges that i bought not to long ago. oh i forgot to post the pics. also got one side skirt on. one to go. then some minor body work and some paint. then some interior stuff like new leather skins for the seats. i wish katskins offered corrado replacements. anyway, new pics coming soon.

hello. both skirts on, and swapped the passenger window regulator yesterday so it will roll all the way up. the little plastic elbow part was broke, so it would not close with a 1/4 inch gap. it whistled and that sucked. i also found out that i removed fuse #19 for some resaon. now the fans come on with the ac which means i can get a full charge in the system for ice cold ac system once again like before the wreck.
